So first task was to remove the fibre panels and glue for which a hair dryer was useful! We then applied SilentCoat 2mm sound deadening to as much of the external skin as possible. We’d brought a 40 sheet pack and had very little waste mainly due to the wife’s Tetris skills. Ran out of sheets with approx 1/3 of the sliding door, opposite panel, tailgate and wheel arches left to cover so have ordered another 40 pack.

Keeping it quiet

Stage 1 of the strip out
So our first steps today stripping out the ply lining (walls, wheel arch covers and floor) & bulkhead between the load space and cab. The lining was attached (screwed) to the original lining boards with the floor just sat on the black 'VW' foam flow
Looks like the previous owner used the back of the van as a cutting shop - loads of sawdust under the ply panels. Removed the rear threshold to be able to properly clean under it - so far just used the hover but will do a wet wash next weekend.
